About Julia
B App Science Speech Pathology, University of Sydney
Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia
I am a Speech Pathologist with over 13 years of experience working across a variety of settings and age groups. This has included many years: in Early Intervention services with 2 – 7 year old children; working in K - 6 support unit and mainstream classes; and in the clinical education of speech pathology students at Sydney University.
My core areas of specialty include: early language and speech intervention; supporting school aged language, speech and literacy development; supporting children with autism and developmental disabilities to develop language and social communication skills; developing low technology supportive systems; assessment and screening; and training/resourcing families and educational staff.
I believe that therapy should be fun and rewarding, based around a child’s special interests and tailored to meet their goals. I love working closely with caregivers and educators so that therapy can easily happen across the child’s week. As a mother of three children myself, I understand the demands of family life and how little time is often left for home practice. I will work hard to ensure that expectations are realistic and possible.
I hope to meet you soon!
